I blogged last week about the power we hold as women. We control 85% of household spending, so why not direct it towards female-founded companies this holiday season to support our own? The ladies at HonestlyNow and The Skinny Scoop now have compiled nearly 200 gift ideas from female-founded companies. We wanted to expand the scope of their list with specific gifts for female athletes.
Last week we highlighted SkirtSports, Soas Racing, Betty Designs, and TitleNine and asked who we missed. Here is what we heard back:
Sheex
Sheex are made of the same performance sports material as Nike and Under Armor clothing. Super yummy and great for temperature regulation during taper, menopause, or a combo of the two. Founded by two former collegiate coaches, the Sheex ladies have hustled and are now endorsed by Mirinda Carfrae and sold at Bed Bath and Beyond. Mirinda loves her some Sheex when she is “knackered”. I want to be “knackered”.
Team Sparkle
Sparkly running skirts. Need I say more? It’s so great to feel pretty and even better to just have fun and not take yourself too seriously. Easy to stay out of that trap when you are wearing a sequined running skirt. I saw a few of the Elvis Kits on the course in Vegas Sunday night.
Run Like a Mother
An inspirational books is often one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give – especially when paired with an event registration. At the end of the day, being an has very little to do with sports. It’s about fueling that inner athlete and being better in everything you do because of it. Sarah and Dmitry have pulled together a running book that is both inspiring and informative for your inner and outer athlete. And it’s on Kindle!
Island Boost
Best. Expo. Discovery. Ever. An awesome all natural alternative to Gu. It’s coconut water based, tastes delicious and is more liquid-like than Gu so it doesn’t sit in your stomach like a gooey sweet burrito bomb. The packaging is ingenious – easy to tear yet won’t spill. Island Boost fueled me between miles 7-20 this weekend in Vegas and I am about to ping Laura to see if we can add it to our schwag bags. Loved it!

Uncomplicated cards to inspire, thank, or congratulate your inner athlete from a woman who has transformed her own life through sport. I found this “just because” card so motivating I “Pinned It”. I want the version with Olympic athletes or Ironman Kona champions over 40.
